Frequently Asked Questions
What types of events do you perform at?
I perform at weddings, corporate events, private parties, proposals, and special celebrations.
What instruments do you play?
I specialise in live acoustic guitar, violin, and vocals, offering solo performances tailored to your event.
Can you learn and perform specific songs upon request?
Absolutely! I’m happy to learn special songs that are meaningful to you, given reasonable notice before your event. A $75 fee applies for learning and preparing custom songs that sit outside of my curated song list.
Do you provide your own sound equipment?
Yes, I bring all necessary sound equipment, including microphones, cables, and speakers, suitable for both intimate and larger venues. If your venue is remote or doesn’t have access to power (such as a beach, forest, or outdoor location), please let me know in advance so I can plan accordingly.
How long do you typically perform at an event?
Most packages start from 1 hour, with the option to add extended performance time as needed. I offer flexible set durations tailored to your event - whether it’s a short ceremony, a cocktail hour, or a full day celebration.
Do you offer different performance setups (solo, duo, etc.)?
I perform as a solo musician, offering guitar, vocals, and violin.
How far in advance should I book you?
Ideally, bookings should be made 6 months in advance, with a minimum of 2 months. That said, I’m happy to be flexible - just get in touch and we’ll see what’s possible.
What genres of music do you cover?
My repertoire includes classical, pop, acoustic, romantic ballads, and easy listening. I tailor the music selection to match your event’s atmosphere.
Can you play during the ceremony as well as the reception?
Definitely! I can provide live music for the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and reception to create a seamless musical experience. Explore packages here.
Do you travel outside Auckland for events?
Yes, I’m available for events throughout the North Island and can travel by car. I’m also open to performing in the South Island or internationally, provided that accommodation, transport, and any related fees are covered.
How do we confirm the booking?
Once we agree on the details and date, I require a 50% deposit to secure your booking.
What if I want to book you on a public holiday?
A 15% surcharge applies to all bookings made for a New Zealand Public Holiday.
What happens if you are unable to perform due to illness or emergency?
In the unlikely event that I’m unable to perform, I will do my best to find a suitable replacement from my network of professional musicians. If a replacement isn’t possible, I will offer a full refund of your deposit.
Do you offer instrumental-only sets (no vocals)?
Yes, I can perform purely instrumental sets on violin or guitar, ideal for ceremonies or background music during formal moments.
Do you require a meal at the event?
If the booking is longer than 2 hours or covers key meal times, I kindly request that a vendor meal be provided. This helps me stay energised and ready to deliver my best performance.
Can you provide a microphone for speeches or announcements?
No, the equipment that I will be using will be solely for music purposes. Please look to arrange any additional sound equipment you require with your venue.
What happens in bad weather if my event is outdoors?
If your event is outdoors, a sheltered or covered area will need to be provided for me and my equipment. In cases of poor weather, a backup indoor location is strongly recommended.
Do you take breaks during your performance?
Yes, for longer bookings I take short breaks between sets. Background music can be played through my speaker system during breaks to keep the atmosphere going.
What happens if our event runs late or off schedule?
I understand that events don’t always run perfectly to time. I’ll do my best to accommodate reasonable timing changes on the day, or offer overtime for an additional fee if available.
Do you require anything from the venue?
Just a standard power outlet (unless discussed otherwise for remote/outdoor locations), a flat sheltered space to perform, and parking access if possible.
Can you match a dress code or event theme?
I’ll dress appropriately for your event and am happy to match your dress code or blend in with the aesthetic. Typically, I dress professionally and will adapt my attire to suit the formality and theme of your event, from smart casual to formal wear.
What if we need to cancel or postpone our event?
I understand that circumstances can change, and I aim to be as flexible as possible. If you need to cancel or postpone your booking, please notify me as soon as possible in writing.
Cancellations: Your 50% deposit is non-refundable
Cancellations within 14 days of the event: 75% of the total agreed fee will be charged.
Postponements: I’ll do my best to accommodate a new date at no extra charge, subject to availability.
How early do you arrive to set up?
I typically arrive 45 minutes before the performance time to set up equipment and sound check, ensuring everything runs smoothly.
Do you offer recorded music or DJ services?
I specialize in live acoustic performances and do not provide DJ or pre-recorded music services.
Can you accommodate last-minute bookings?
